Working Groups

Working Groups (WGs) organise and govern the Foundation's core software, hardware and policy activities.

• Each is led by one or more Chairs with support from the GSF team.
• Members can join meetings based on their interests and expertise.
• The three current groups are Software, Hardware and Policy.

Projects

Projects are led by GSF contributors, supported by the Foundation and governed by a Committee or Working Group. They may involve:

• developing a specification or standard
• producing guidance, a white paper or policy brief
• building software that supports adoption of a GSF specification

Committees

Committees are member-only leadership bodies with a defined scope and delegated decision-making responsibility, guided by the Foundation's Steering Committee. They provide specialist direction across relevant Working Groups and projects. The Green AI Committee coordinates the Foundation's strategic direction on sustainable AI.

Assemblies

An Assembly brings a selected group of participants together for a time-limited, AI-assisted consensus process that produces a validated, citable outcome.

Applications open for a defined recruitment period. When an Assembly is full or applications have closed, a waitlist may remain available. Members can currently join the SCI for OpenTelemetry Assembly waitlist.
