This project is a Committee Project run by the GSF. It aims to produce a white paper on Green AI.
AI models demand significant energy and resources, contributing to carbon emissions. The distributed impacts across the AI lifecycle may lead decision-makers to underestimate their negative environmental consequences. With the rapid advancement of AI technologies, a lack of standardized measurement and limited awareness of Green AI, further hinder efforts to mitigate these impacts.
The GSF aims to publish a white paper to raise awareness of Green AI among AI decision-makers, sustainability officers, policy advocates, environmental researchers, and software developers. By providing accessible and actionable information, the committee seeks to empower industry leaders to reduce AI’s environmental footprint and drive sustainable practices across the AI lifecycle.
The best place to start is often joining a project meetings and saying hello to the project’s leads and other contributors. You can also engage more asynchronously by inputting into discussions on email or in Github.

We works almost entirely in the open via GitHub, so everything you need to know about a project exist in it’s repository.
