Watchers are pioneers in open-sustainability. We measure the real-world carbon impact of software, shape the tools that define the future of green software, and work together to solve one of tech’s biggest blind spots—emissions from software.

What do Watchers do?

• Analyze real open-source software projects and calculate Software Carbon Intensity (SCI) scores
• Create Impact Framework Manifest (IMP) files to track and improve emissions
• Shape the future of green software by contributing feedback, features, and fixes
• Collaborate in a tight-knit community that shares knowledge, challenges assumptions, and builds better tools together

How it works

1. Sign up below. We’ll notify you when the training course launches.
2. Complete the training and submit a case study to the watchers repo.
3. Existing watchers will review you work and if accepted, you will become a watcher also.
4. Join the Watchers Slack and start contributing.
