We Operate Differently

• We are a diverse global consortium of 60+ nonprofits, academic institutions and commercial enterprises, these are our member organisations.
• Our primary focus is the development of Standards & Policy related to green software and hardware. We are formed under the Joint Development Foundation.
• We have Working Groups, Committees and Projects.
• We function via consensus. We work hard to reach an agreement on outputs so we can speak with one voice. Every Member has a voice and a vote, and we encourage them to use it. We follow a collaborative approach to decision-making.
• Everything is volunteer-led. Volunteers come from our member organisations and only employees of member organisations are able to contribute directly to our work.
• We are Async-First and use GitHub to manage almost every aspect of our work.
• As staff our role is to guide the delivery of projects and support in any way we can. We act based on the decisions of our members as governed by our charter.
• We are a small core team who are required to work independently, wear many hats and adapt quickly to an ever changing green software landscape.
